New accounts use the Free plan. Paid subscriptions are unavailable and no payments are collected. The subscription terms below apply when paid subscriptions become available.

Who provides the service

What Map of Ideas does

Map of Ideas helps you discover scientific papers, organise a personal library and reading Atlas, and explore questions with AI-generated answers and paper assessments. An internet connection and a current browser are required. A personal workspace requires an account. Some features require an analysis allowance, as described on the pricing page.

Coverage depends on the papers and source material available to the service. AI answers and relationship assessments can be incomplete or incorrect. Check the cited papers and their context before relying on a conclusion. A score is an aid to research, not a guarantee of correctness, novelty or completeness.

Your account and content

Accounts are for individual users aged 18 or over. Keep your sign-in details private and do not share your account. Do not interfere with the service, bypass access or usage limits, or submit unlawful material. Tell us if you suspect someone else is using your account.

You retain your rights in the ideas and other material you submit. You give us permission to store and process it as needed to provide the features you use, as described in the privacy notice. Submit only content you are entitled to share. Private ideas and questions are not used to train our models.

Research papers and other third-party material remain subject to their authors’ and publishers’ rights. Access through Map of Ideas does not transfer those rights to you.

Credits and paid subscriptions

The pricing page describes Free and Connect. Free includes paper discovery and library tools, with up to two followed ideas or collections. Connect subscriptions cannot currently be purchased.

For the planned paid service, basic tools remain free with rate limits; new AI analyses require a subscription. Connect includes 2,000 analysis credits per monthly paid period. Credits are granted or renewed only after payment is confirmed. Unused credits expire at the end of that period and do not roll over. There are no credit top-ups or automatic overage charges.

New model analyses use credits. Before an on-demand analysis, you see its maximum charge and confirm it. We reserve that amount while the job runs, charge no more than that maximum and release unused credits. Failed or unusable analyses are not charged. Scheduled AI explanations run only when you opt in and share the same credit allowance. Saved results and ordinary browsing do not use analysis credits.

For the planned paid service, Paddle will act as the seller of the subscription and handle payments and applicable sales taxes. Its buyer terms will apply to the transaction; these terms describe your use of Map of Ideas. The total recurring price and billing period must be shown before you buy.

Cancellation, refunds and complaints

The planned subscription renews monthly until cancelled. Cancellation stops the next renewal and takes effect at the end of the paid period. Your account then becomes free, retaining your library, saved results and export access. Remaining paid credits expire. Refunds, withdrawal rights and how to contact us are described in the refund policy.

For a service problem or complaint, email us with your account email, a description and any relevant job or transaction reference. We aim to respond within two business days; this is a support target, not a guaranteed response time or service-level agreement. We will investigate and explain the outcome. Never send your password or full payment-card details. Your statutory rights to a service that conforms to the contract, and any applicable remedies, remain intact.

Access, changes and ending your account

We may pause access where necessary to address a security incident, unlawful use or a material breach of these terms. Where possible, we will explain the reason and provide an opportunity to resolve the issue. This does not remove any rights you have concerning a paid period.

You can export your workspace and request account deletion from Account → Your data & account. Deletion and backup retention are explained in the privacy notice.

For the planned paid service, account deletion will also stop future subscription billing. We will notify you by email at least 30 days before a subscription price change. The new price will apply only to a future renewal after that notice period, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

Your legal rights

Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights, remedies or liability that cannot legally be excluded. Consumers retain the protections and access to courts provided by applicable law in their country of residence.
